The installation follows this flow:
You can inspect the procedure for DOORS® Server Installation which is a related activity.
Locate the appropriate compressed ZIP installer image in your file system.
In the following figure, a number of these compressed files has been downloaded from the IBM support site. The ratlDOORS_Client_9-5-0-1_Windows.zip file has been selected.
As shown below, the unpackaging procedure yielded the setup.exe file which is suitable for installations on Windows client systems.
Note: Many of the other ZIP files that are part of the DOORS® distribution use the exact same setup.exe file name for their installers. You should rename the file meaningfully.
A suggested name of DOORS-client-9-5-0-1-windows-setup.exe not only conveys the purpose of the file, but using the minus sign instead of underscores and dots even eases typing (fewer shift keys).
Select the installer as shown in the following figure from the system on which you wish to install the DOORS® Client software.
Double-clicking the installer image (or using right-mouse open, or run, etc) will execute the program. The windows installer-type program will prepare as shown here.
The Welcome Page for the installer is presented when the utility is ready to run as seen in the following figure.
Press the Next button to proceed to the End User License Agreement (EULA) page as seen in the next figure.

C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\DOORS\9.5\
As shown below, the Change button will be activated in order to select the appropriate destination file for this computer.
In the Change Current Destination Folder dialog shown below, you could use either the Browse button to select a directory, or use the Create button to create a new location.

You may connect a DOORS® client to one or more DOORS® Database Servers. Usually, you have a primary server to which you connect most of the time. The DOORS® Database Settings window as seen here wants to collect the

and
Database host name where the server is installed.
You should be aware of how to specify the name of your DOORS® DB server. In some installations a fully-qualified domain name (FQDN) is needed. In other installations, a simple host name will suffice.
As seen here, the default port number has been selected and a simple host name entered for the DOORS® DB server.
Press the Next key to proceed.
The next dialog will assist in configuring the DOORS® client to access your user license information.
You may use a license file, access an IBM Rational License Key Server or make no selection.
In this example, an IBM Rational License Key Server has been identified by port number and hostname.
Press the Next key to proceed to the final steps.
The next dialog provides a summary of your selections and shows that the DOORS® Client installation is ready to proceed.
Note: That this dialog includes a check-box which will cause the installation to create a desktop shortcut if checked. People typically find this a convenient option to choose.
As seen here, on Windows 7 Clients whenever a software installation is attempted, the OS will ask if this operation should be permitted.
You must have sufficient rights to perform such an activity. This installation will add values to your Windows Registry and also make a few minor additions to OS folders as necessary.
Press the Yes button on the dialog to permit the installation to proceed.
Progress of the installation will be displayed as shown in the following figure. The progress bar will fill in as more work is accomplished.
When complete, the InstallShield Wizard Completed will display success in this case, or whether there were problems with the installation.
